Natural Arthritis Pain Relief
Posted on 27. Apr, 2012 by Jennifer in Arthritis
The first and the most severe and bothersome of these symptoms is “pain”. To understand the need and rationale of natural arthritis pain relief, we first need to understand various risk factors associated with the clinical medicine (allopathic medications). These medications can be divided into the following major categories:
1- Prescription medicines for arthritis pain relief
Common prescription (Rx) pain relievers include ibuprofen (Motrin®), diclofenac (Voltaren®), and indomethacin (Indocin®). It must be noted that while these pills may work faster than over-the counter (OTC) pain pills, they also have a higher chance of serious complications and adverse events such stomach bleeding and heart attacks. In addition, the pain reduction caused due to the use of these drugs is only short term and comes back as soon as the patient stop staking these drugs. Finally, these drugs are also very costly especially if used for a long period of time.
2- OTC medicines for arthritis pain relief
Over-the-counter (OTC) medications include pills such as ibuprofen (Motrin®, Advil®), naproxen (Aleve®), or aspirin and others. These medications tend to reduce pain but can cause stomach ulceration, irritation and bleeding. For the same reason, their use is contraindicated (not allowed) in people with digestive disorders. Also, it must be remembered that when it comes to arthritis, “pain” is not the only major issue and other aspects of inflammation such as redness, swelling and rigidity also need to be addressed. There are some other limitations as well. This is where more drawbacks of OTC / prescription medicines come in. For example, acetaminophen (Tylenol®) reduces mild pain (and not severe pain). It, therefore, does not reduce inflammation or swelling.
3- Herbal supplements for natural arthritis pain relief
While there are many scams supplements in the market, a quality anti-arthritis supplement, if chosen wisely and after proper research, will not only address the problem of pain but will also tend to reduce other aspects of inflammation such as swelling,, redness and joint stiffness. It should be, however, pure, efficacious and cost-effective so that it could be used for long term, if needed. In addition, it can also keep the patients moving throughout the day by directly targeting the underlying origin / cause of arthritis. Last but not least, it is free from the risk of complications or side effects even after prolong use. Therefore, as compared to the allopathic / conventional medications, herbal therapy (if chosen on the basis of quality, safety and recommendations) can surely be turned out as an effective and economical solution to obtain natural arthritis pain relief in the long run.
